Friday, March 3, AK Steel met with negotiators for the union which represents the locked out Middletown workers. It was the first time the company and the union, Armco Employees Independent Federation, had met face-to-face since the workers were locked out after their contract expired last Tuesday. The meeting lasted a half hour, and both sides agreed to meet again Monday. The happenings at Monday's meeting have not yet been released, but the topic scheduled for Monday is whether or not the sides will schedule more negotiation sessions. Replacement and salaried workers have been running the Middletown plant since the strike began.
