Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) resumed production of heavy profiles at its steelworks No. 1, following a maintenance investment of $1.5 million (MXN 29 million), the company said this week.

AHMSA’s heavy profile production line supplies structural steel to the civil construction, and energy industries. The maintenance project included repairs at a reheating furnace and cooling tower, as well as the change of a wear plate, and engine and rolling mill equipment repairs.

AHMSA, which is Mexico’s only heavy profile producer, said it employed about 650 people in the project.
