In an interview with local media, Alonso Ancira Elizondo, President of the Board of Directors of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), said that based on new energy reform, Coahuila state has strong growth prospects that could trigger higher employment.

While up to 20,000 jobs could be generated in the region, "Pemex will have more activity, and AHMSA has an obligation to keep growing" he said.  "Following secondary reform, they could generate near 15,000-20,000 jobs in the next two years in Coahuila, as high paying as the workers of AHMSA."

He stressed that the reforms achieved in the country have been favorable for Mexico in the first nine months of this year.  Energy reform was approved by the Senate and passed by the House of Representatives.
