Mexico’s Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) has reached full capacity at its third furnace, according to media reports, with a 1.2 million mt liquid steel capacity from February 2014 to February 2015.

The Olla Three furnace, as it is known, allows AHMSA to refine the liquid steel into a second phase, so it can produce grades of higher technical specification.

According to Jorge de Jesús Vélez, superintendent at AHMSA, the furnace performed as expected.
