London-listed Africa-focused mining giant African Minerals Ltd (AML) has announced that the commissioning of Phase 1 of its Tonkolili iron ore project located in Sierra Leone is about to be completed, with production to begin ramping up at the end of the current quarter.

ALM has revised its output guidance for the current year to between 5 and 6 million mt. The company is expected to achieve an annual output capacity of 20 million mt in the second quarter of 2013.

AML stated that export tonnage and guidance for 2013 will depend on the progression of the production ramp-up.
