First iron ore shipment from Marampa destined for Europe

UK-based London Mining has announced that the ship carrying the first iron ore shipment from its Marampa operations in Sierra Leone is expected to arrive in Freetown on January 23, and has confirmed the shipment is destined for Europe.

London Mining has cut its output target for its Marampa operations for 2012, revising it down to 1.5 million mt from 1.8 million mt. It plans to increase the production capacity of the first stage of the mine to 5 million mt from 4 million mt in 2014.

London Mining also stated that coke ovens have been commissioned at its wholly owned subsidiary London Mining Colombia, with first production expected in January.
