Peruvian steelmaker Aceros Arequipa has criticized a decision by the country's institute of competition defense and intellectual property (Indecopi) to not impose antidumping (AD) duties over the imports of Brazilian and Mexican rebar, according local media Gestion.
Indecopi decided Brazilian and Mexican rebar imports to Peru do not represent a threat to the local rebar production. Aceros Arequipa said Indecopi’s decision was “mistaken.”
The Brazilian ministry of foreign relations welcomed last week Peru’s decision to not impose the AD duties on Brazilian rebar.
