Peru starts antidumping investigation into imports of Brazilian and Mexican rebar

The Peruvian institute of competition defense and intellectual property (Indecopi), through its dumping, subsidies and elimination commission (CDB), has started an investigation into imports of rebar from Brazil and Mexico, following a request from local producer Aceros Arequipa, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.

Indecopi said the period of analysis it for the probe starts on January 2016 and ends on March 2017. The institute announced an initial alleged dumping margin of 60.4 percent for Brazilian rebar and 18 percent for the Mexican product.

The products subject to the AD probe include both straight and rolled rebar of different diameters in millimeters and inches, including those with 3/8 inches, 5/8 inches, 3/4 inches, 1/2 inches, 1 inch, 1 3/8 inches, 6mm, 8mm and 12mm.
