13 companies apply for Erdemir tender

13 companies applied to join the tender that will be held for the sale of 49.29% stake in Turkey's sole integrated steel producer Erdemir. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, Turkey's Privatization Administration extended the deadline for expressions of interest to 14 July, from 8 July originally. With the deadline for the applications, 13 companies or consortiums applied to join the tender. Sources report that nine companies are foreign companies and the remaining four are Turkish companies. Global steel producers Mittal, Arcelor, POSCO, US Steel, Corus, and Severstal are believed to be among the 9 foreign companies that applied to join the tender. The deadline for submitting bids for the tender is September 26, 2005.
