US HSS spot market prices stable, for now

The average transaction range for US domestic hollow structural section (HSS) tubing has remained stable in the past seven days and is still being heard in the range of $48.00-$50.00 cwt. ($1,058-$1,102/mt or $960-$1,000/nt), ex-mill.

As with last weeks, mills are still hungry to fill their order books, and have been increasingly open to negotiating with customers. This, combined with the forecast dip in US scrap prices during this month’s buy cycle, has many concerned that prices will continue to revise downward in the upcoming weeks.  As such, buyers are placing orders cautiously.
