Slack activity in local Turkish welded pipe market

This week, demand in the local Turkish welded pipe market has remained slack, as buyers have continued to make bookings only to meet their immediate needs due to the sharp fluctuations of the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate. As a result of the weak demand, the uptrend observed in previous weeks in prices of hot rolled coil (HRC) - the raw material for pipe production - has not been reflected in domestic welded pipe prices in Turkey, which have remained stable week on week.

Turkish producers’ offers for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to the domestic market are still at $560-580/mt ex-works.

In the same period, Turkish producers’ export prices for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219 are still at $560-570/mt FOB.
