As the spread between the hard coking coal and premium hard coking coal (PCC) has declined, Australian premium hard coking coal prices have softened to around $220/mt FOB Australia East Coast while hard coking coal has improved to $206/mt FOB Australia East Coast.

Given the Australian prices, a source informs SteelOrbis that US East Coast (USEC) prices for low-vol hard coking coal are reportedly at $198-201/mt FOB while premium hard coking coal is reportedly at $215/mt FOB USEC. The source noted that US coking coal prices have softened $0.50-$2/mt over the past week but are not expected to decline drastically as domestic demand for the product is expected to support export prices and “prices in Australia are not expected to correct further in the short-term.”

Prices for premium hard coking coal are reportedly around $226-230/mt CFR Rotterdam.
