The Port of Virginia has announced planned closures of its main shipping channel as a result of Hurricane Florence. The port will advise of the port’s operating and administrative status for Friday, September 14, by Wednesday. The hurricane is expected to reach North Carolina, a southern neighboring state, on Wednesday or Thursday.

The Port of Virginia includes the following three coking coal export terminals in its Hampton Roads area: Dominion Terminal Associates, Kinder Morgan's Pier IX and Norfolk Southern's Pier VI in Norfolk.
