According to an industry source, as Australian coking coal prices have increased, US coking coal sellers are following market prices up and seeking to place purchases of non-contracted coking coal volumes while prices remain high. However, once Australian railways, ports, and logistics are back to normal by early summer, ex-US prices are expected to slide down.

Australian premium hard coking coal is on offer to India at $315/mt CFR India, therefore, US coking coal prices are being heard at $315-320/mt CFR India for premium A grade hard coking coal and $215/mt CFR India for semi-hard material. While a specific offer for US B grade coking coal is not being reported by the source, the premium grade and semi-hard prices translate to approximately $270-275/mt CFR India for US B grade coking coal.
