Turkish mills’ local scrap procurement prices soften on lower end

Turkish mills have cut their local scrap prices on the lower end as international scrap market has remained somewhat stable over the past week. The slow tradin on the deep sea scrap segment is giving Turkish mills leverage against the local scrap sellers and prevent them to increase their sales prices.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down from TRY 12,700-13,700/mt to TRY 12,400-13,700/mt. Amid the depreciation of the Turkish lira, the dollar-based quotations have moved down from $325-351/mt to $313-345/mt.
