Turkish mills’ domestic scrap purchase prices fall further

Wednesday, 25 March 2020 12:15:46 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

SteelOrbis has observed that today, March 25, most Turkish mills have cut their domestic scrap purchase prices on Turkish lira basis by a further TRY 25-70/mt depending on the scrap grade, while this has been reflected as a $2-6/mt decrease in their dollar-based prices, though some dollar-based prices have remained stable due to the appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar.

On the other hand, the mills that have kept their Turkish lira prices stable today have raised their scrap purchase prices on US dollar basis by $3-5/mt,

Three steel producers in Turkey have announced plans to suspend production. As SteelOrbis reported previously, two mills are still out of the market for scrap purchases, while Ege Celik announced that it is planning maintenance works which will start in the current week.
