Turkish mills cut local scrap purchase prices significantly

Friday, 02 May 2025 16:16:19 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Amid the weak sentiment in the import scrap segment, Turkish mills have reduced their domestic scrap purchase prices significantly over the past two weeks, by a range of TRY 200-1,100/mt, with a $7-32/mt downward revision in dollar-based prices against the backdrop of the depreciation of the Turkish lira. The strong decreases in import scrap prices have come to a halt this week, which may lead to a stabilization of the domestic scrap market.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down from TRY 12,450-14,200/mt to TRY 12,100-13,230/mt. The dollar-based quotations have moved down from $326-372/mt to $314-343/mt.
