Turkey’s domestic scrap prices remain stable, but set to decline

Friday, 11 April 2025 17:32:49 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Two mills’ purchase prices in the local Turkish scrap market have decreased over the past two weeks. Producers have cut their purchase prices by TRY 200-300/mt or $6-8/mt on US dollar basis. The sideways movement observed in other producers’ local scrap procurement prices has resulted in a $1/mt drop in their US dollar prices due to the slight depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. Despite the relatively stable trend observed in the local Turkish scrap market this week, domestic prices are set to decline in the coming days as the import scrap market has collapsed by $28.75/mt from the levels recorded last Friday.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved sideways at TRY 13,200-14,200/mt. The dollar-based quotations have moved down on the upper end from $347-374/mt to $347-373/mt.
