Turkey’s domestic scrap market continues to move up

The local Turkish scrap market has continued to move up this week. The slowdown observed in the deep sea and short sea segments earlier this week resulted in higher quotations for the local market from Turkish mills, which are aiming to secure tonnages from their domestic market. Several producers have increased their domestic scrap quotations, with the rise this week coming to TRY 250-500/mt or $5-12/mt. A few producers have kept their prices stable, with the stable lira prices matched by $1-2/mt a decline on dollar-basis.

After the price revisions, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up from TRY 11,900-13,310/mt to TRY 12,200-13,560/mt. The dollar-based quotations have moved from $326-365/mt to $333-370/mt.
