Some Turkish mills update their domestic scrap purchase prices

Friday, 22 November 2019 15:21:00 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Some Turkish mills have increased their domestic scrap purchase prices by TRY 60-110/mt or $12-21/mt over the past week depending on the buyer and the raw material grade. In the meantime, for now most of the steel producers have kept the same prices as last week, resulting in a $3/mt uptick on dollar basis due to the change in the exchange rate. Sources say that this week mills’ demand for local scrap has slowed down somewhat, partly being the reason for some downward revisions in the Iskenderun region. However, some more upward revisions may be seen if import scrap prices firm up in upcoming deals, SteelOrbis understands.
