Scrap import prices have reached a new low in Taiwan as suppliers have been more flexible amid the recent decline in Turkey together with the subdued billet and long steel demand in Taiwan.

Ex-US HMS I/II 80:20 in containers have been offered at $260-265/mt CFR this week, $5-10/mt below last week. But recent contacts have been concluded at $258/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has been informed. Buyers have been insisting on lower prices and have been purchasing small quantities (2,000-3,000 mt) due to expectations of a further decline.

In Vietnam, offers for ex-US HMS I/II 80:20 by bulk have lost $10/mt over the week, coming to $300-305/mt CFR, while demand has remained subdued. Japanese H2 scrap has been offered at $295/mt CFR to Vietnam, but also attracting limited interest.
