Local Turkish scrap market remains firm with support from imports

The local Turkish scrap market has remained firm over the past week with the support of higher deep sea and short sea scrap prices. Several local steel producers have increased their domestic scrap quotations, by TRY 100-250/mt or $3-7/mt. Just a small downward correction of TRY 50/mt or $1/mt week on week was made by one producer just for one grade, which has caused a drop on the upper end of the price range for DKP scrap. The rest of the market was stable, with the sideways movement of lira prices matched by a $1/mt increase on dollar basis.

After the price revisions, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down by TRY 50/mt on the upper end to TRY 11,900-13,310/mt. The dollar-based quotations have changed from $326-366/mt to $326-365/mt.
