Ex-warehouse prices in the local German scrap market have observed some increases in the month of April, and, although crude steel production in Germany increased in the first quarter of 2026, steel demand and production rates remain on the low side.
At the same time, with Turkey being active again in scrap imports, the E1 and E3 scrap prices that had observed some declines in March have now gained €10-15/mt thanks to better demand.
According to market reports, scrap availability has remained on the low side, but is still enough to supply mills’ needs.
The prices provided by Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Stahlrecycling-und Entsorgungsunternehmen e.V. are average prices for domestic transactions across Germany in the first 20 days of the given month, and they have shown overall increases ranging from €4.3-15.6/mt month on month. On year-on-year basis, however, the decrease is extended to all scrap categories, standing in a range of €12-28.2/mt.
