India’s SAIL floats met coke purchase tender

Indian state-run steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited’s IISCO steel plant in Burnpur, West Bengal, is reported to have floated a purchase tender for 15,000 mt of blast furnace (BF) coke (64% CSR). The deadline for bids is Monday, October 24.

According to reliable sources, BF coke produced by local Indian plants is said to be still available at INR 41,000/mt ($498/mt) ex-works, unchanged since the beginning of October. "Offers are stable but people are not able to sell at these prices," a trader stated. Meanwhile, ex-China met coke (CSR 64% CSR) offers have been heard at $410/mt FOB, with freight being estimated at around $40/mt.
