On August 5, SteelOrbis reported containerized shredded scrap import offer prices from the UK and EU to Bangladesh at $326-330/mt CFR and containerized HMS I/II 80:20 reportedly at $311-317/mt CFR.

Sources now inform SteelOrbis that scrap import prices are trending down. Containerized shredded scrap is trending at $313-320/mt CFR while containerized HMS I/II 80:20 is reportedly trending at $290-298/mt CFR. Shredded scrap decreased $13/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $10/mt from the top of the same range. HMS I/II 80:20 scrap decreased $21/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $19/mt from the top of the respective range. A source noted the steeper price decline of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap in the past month compared to shredded scrap and added, “The spread has increased to about $20-25/mt in the past month from a more traditional historical spread of $10-15/mt.” A separate source added that Bangladesh buyers are reportedly active with the booking of scrap both in bulk and containers.
