Graphite electrode prices in China decrease toward end of Q4

On October 15, SteelOrbis reported that domestic graphite electrode prices in China were showing a continued uptrend from August to October. Prices for HP (high-powered) 450 graphite grade were reportedly at an average price of RMB 64,000/mt ($9,249/mt) and UHP (ultra-high powered) 600 graphite was reportedly at an average price of RMB 122,000/mt ($17,630/mt), all prices ex-warehouse.

Over the course of the quarter, prices continued to climb to an average price of HP at 78,000/mt ($11,239/mt) and UHP at 130,000/mt ($18,732/mt) ex-warehouse in mid-November. Over the month, HP prices increased $1,990/mt while UHP prices increased $1,102/mt.

In mid-December, sources inform SteelOrbis that average graphite prices have declined compared to mid-November. Average prices for HP are reportedly at 60,000/mt ($8,721/mt) and UHP at 100,000/mt ($14,535/mt) ex-warehouse per recent analysis. In the last month, HP prices decreased $2,518/mt while UHP prices decreased $4,197/mt.
