Ex-US prices on scrap to Taiwan move up further on the West coast

Ex-US containerized HMS I/II 80:20 prices moved up quickly last week.

Early in the week ended November 11, deals were heard at $230-235/mt CFR, but were pushed further up to $236-242/mt CFR.  According to sources close to SteelOrbis, Taiwan began to accept higher prices for containerized ex-US scrap after the upward pricing results during the monthly ferrous scrap export auction in Japan, which occurred during the week.

The preceding week’s prices for deals were confirmed at $220-228/mt CFR Taiwan Kaohsiung port.

Presently, scrap offers for HMS I/II 80:20 are being heard at $245-255/mt CFR Taiwan.
