Over the past two weeks, demand for ex-CIS pig iron has remained weak and ex-CIS pig iron prices have continued their downward movement, falling by $20/mt on average to $320-360/mt FOB. As of late August this year, global iron ore prices have decreased by 20 percent, while ex-CIS pig iron prices have declined by 11 percent. Therefore, market sources state that buyers are making bookings only to meet their immediate needs amid the anticipation of further declines expected to be observed in ex-CIS pig iron quotations.
