According to sources close to SteelOrbis, a Turkish mill has recently closed on a deal to purchase 40,000 mt of ex-Us scrap. The deal is comprised of 33,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 at $331/mt, 5,000 mt of shredded at $336/mt, and 2,000 mt of bonus material for $341/mt, all in CFR terms.
The deal is $1/mt higher than the most recent ex-Baltic deal with corresponding scrap grade levels also reported today. Compared to October 19 reported deals, the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap prices are $3.50/mt higher than the ex-Denmark deal and $7/mt higher than the ex-Europe deal. The recent scrap purchase price is also $4/mt higher than the previous ex-US deal reported on October 2.
