Southern Brazilian origin basic pig iron offers given to China are currently standing at the level of $270/mt FOB, indicating a decrease of $30/mt from their previous level; however, due to increased freight costs, the end-user purchase price has been at the level of $315/mt on C&F basis. Meanwhile, this week it is said that Chinese traders have been accepting only mid-March shipments for their raw material purchases. Also, in northern Brazil export price levels of BPI have been standing at the level of $300/mt FOB; however, as demand has been trending slack, these offers have not attracted buyers' attention.
