In the Romanian market, the financial problems affecting the Romanian steelmaking operations of Russia-based Mechel have increased the downward pressure on scrap prices, which had already been negatively influenced by poor demand.  Scrap collection prices in Romania have remained stable since last week at $340/mt FOB Constanta. However, scrap prices in the Romanian market are expected to soften in the short term.
