In the week ending April 18, prices of steel scrap in China have maintained a stable trend on the whole, while activity has been at normal levels.

The average price of heavy melting scrap (HMS) in the Chinese domestic market stands at RMB 3,388/mt ($539/mt), unchanged week on week. Local prices in the Chinese scrap market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

Currently, there are no differences of opinion between mills and traders as regards transaction prices for scrap and so it is expected that in the near term scrap prices in China will continue to follow a sideways trend.
