During the given week, scrap prices in the Chinese domestic market have seen slight rises amid China’s announcement of implementing a “moderately loose” monetary policy in 2025. Market players chose to adopt a strategy of fast in and fast out by the end of the year to ensure the return of funds. Most scrap yards have no fixed storage plans for winter as they think scrap prices after the Chinese New Year might not see big rises. Meanwhile, most steelmakers are going to implement maintenance works, which will shrink the demand of scrap. It is thought that scrap prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.

The latest tradable ex-Japan HS scrap prices are still at $310-340/mt CFR.
