For the second consecutive week, iron ore prices in Brazil increased on average by $3/mt, reflecting higher prices in the Chinese spot market, coupled with stable ocean freight rates.
Sinter feed fines of 65 percent iron contents are now traded for export from Brazil at $47/mt, lumps at $56/mt and blast furnace grade pellets at $92/mt, FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, the prices are now $41/mt for sinter feed fines, $50/mt for lumps and $86/mt for blast furnace grade pellets, ex-works, no taxes included.
Preliminary figures by the country’s customs authorities point to a small reduction of the total volume of iron ore and pellets exported in June, in comparison with the 35.1 million mt exported in May.
