The price of iron ore in Brazil has increased by an average of $3/mt in the last week, reflecting stable ocean freight rates and higher prices in the Chinese spot market.
Sinter feed fines of 65 percent iron contents are now traded for export from Brazil at $44/mt, lumps at $53/mt and blast furnace grade pellets at $89/mt, all FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, the prices are now $38/mt for sinter feed fines, $47/mt for lumps and $83/mt for blast furnace grade pellets, ex-works, no taxes included.
In May, Brazilian exports of iron ore (pellets excluded) increased from April by 48 percent to 32.693 million mt, while for pellets the increase was 21 percent to 2.418 million mt.
Preliminary figures by the country’s customs authorities point to a small reduction of the total volume of the ore and pellets exported in June.
