Although summer is usually a slow season for wire rod demand in the US, sources say demand is much worse than usual at this time of year. Interest in imports remains “almost nonexistent,” according to sources, while interest in domestic material is “tepid at best.” As such, spot prices have not moved in the last two weeks.
US domestic wire rod spot prices are still trending at $40.00-$41.00 cwt. ($882-$904/mt or $800-$820/nt) ex-mill.
