Demand and inquiry activity within the US import rebar market has not changed measurably in the last week, but some offers have become more flexible as offshore mills are eager to fill order books. US import rebar offers from Spain are now in the range of $34.00-$34.50 cwt. ($750-$761/mt or $680-$690/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports, compared to $35.00 cwt. ($772/mt or $700/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports last week.

Spain’s new offer range is now on par with offers from Bulgaria and Portugal, also at $34.00-$34.50 cwt. ($750-$761/mt or $680-$690/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports, while offers from Italy are closer to $34.50 cwt. ($761/mt or $690/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports.

Lastly, sources tell SteelOrbis that one Turkish mill is offering rebar to the US at $35.00 cwt. ($772/mt or $700/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports, which includes Section 232 tariffs, but it is not newly-produced material—the offers are for orders placed last year and canceled after the US increased Turkey’s tariffs to 50 percent.
