Turkish official domestic dollar-based rebar offers in the Marmara region have settled at $610-615/mt ex-works today, June 4, down by $5/mt on the higher end compared to June 1. In the Izmir region, one of the mills is offering rebar at TRY 32,600/mt ($591/mt) ex-works, also down by TRY 200/mt ($5/mt). According to sources, the overall workable rebar prices for cash payment in the Marmara and Izmir regions are still at around $590-610/mt ex-works and additional discounts are applicable for cash payments.
One of the main players in the Iskenderun region has kept its official rebar price stable in the local currency, with only a drop of $1/mt on US dollar basis, at TRY 33,250/mt ($603/mt) ex-works. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills have set their rebar prices today, for serious buyers and cash payments, at TRY 32,700-32,900/mt ($593-596/mt) ex-warehouse, also unchanged on lira basis and only down by $1/mt on US dollar basis over the same period.
Currently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market in Turkey are in the range of TRY 32,500-33,400/mt ($589-605/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 200-300/mt ($5-7/mt) amid sluggish demand. Only rebar spot prices in the Iskenderun region have increased by TRY 100/mt ($1/mt) in order to offset ongoing currency fluctuations.
