Turkish merchant bar producers have kept their prices stable in the Izmir and Denizli regions in the local currency over the past week, though their prices have fallen by $2/mt on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. In addition, merchant bar prices in the Karabuk and Iskenderun regions have risen by TRY 100-300/mt ($1-5/mt) over the past week. One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its equal angle price at TRY 25,200/mt ($610/mt) ex-works today.
Most merchant bar sellers are still offering either for deliveries in late September-October or from stocks, depending on the size.
Most buyers are delaying new purchases until they hear the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due on September 11, while the general sentiment on the demand side is negative.
