Turkish merchant bar export prices rise sharply

Over the past two weeks, Turkish merchant bar export prices have increased by $220/mt to $1,040-1,050/mt FOB for May-June shipment against the backdrop of higher import scrap and billet prices and ongoing currency fluctuations.

A few mills are also testing $1,100/mt FOB in order to be on the safe side, with the positive sentiment in the raw material segment taken into account. Demand is sluggish as most buyers are in wait-and-see mode after the rapid price hikes.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Angle

1,040-1,050

IPN-UPN

1,050-1,060

Flat bar

1,070-1,080

IPE

1,050-1,060

All prices are on FOB basis and for May-June shipment.
