As of today, February 26, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained unchanged on Turkish lira basis with only minor changes on US dollar basis, as compared to February 23, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,400-28,900/mt ($539-549/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 43.89.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş' prices, have remained stable at $545-560/mt ex-works compared to February 23, while acceptable prices have also remained unchanged at $540-555/mt ex-works, for cash payment, over the same period.
One Iskenderun-based mill has set its official rebar price today at TRY 28,900/mt ($549/mt), indicating a decrease of TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) compared to February 23 amid sluggish demand. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar today to serious buyers at TRY 28,500-28,600/mt ($541-543/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 100/mt ($3/mt) as compared to February 23.
Most buyers are in wait-and-see mode due to the unclear financial situation in the country and are purchasing only in line with their daily needs.
