Most Turkish rebar producers have been keeping their dollar-based rebar prices stable amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, while most local traders are still applying aggressive pricing to generate cash. However, demand is still not supportive.
Official rebar offers and workable prices from mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş, have fallen by another $5/mt on the lower end to $595-610/mt ex-works and by $5/mt on the lower end to $590-610/mt, respectively, as compared to April 13. One Izmir-based mill has set its official rebar price at TRY 31,700/mt ($590/mt) ex-works today, April 16, indicating a decrease of TRY 200/mt ($5/mt) over the same period.
An Iskenderun region-based mill issued its official rebar price at TRY 32,000/mt ($596/mt) ex-works earlier today and later increased its rebar price by TRY 250/mt ($4/mt) to TRY 32,250/mt ($600/mt) ex-works in the afternoon. So, the mill increased its rebar price by TRY 550/mt ($9/mt) in total over the same period. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills have been offering rebar today to serious buyers at TRY 31,700-31,800/mt ($590-592/mt) ex-warehouse, up by TRY 500/mt ($9/mt) since April 13.
Currently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market in Turkey are in the range of TRY 31,700-32,000/mt ($590-596/mt) ex-warehouse, rising by TRY 100-300/mt ($1-6/mt), compared to April 13.
