Today, October 2, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 300-400/mt ($8-12/mt) compared to Thursday, September 28, against the backdrop of higher energy prices for industrial usage from October 1 and the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 19,100-19,500/mt or $580-593/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 27.42.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price stable at $590/mt ex-works today. Most Izmir and Marmara-based mills are offering official rebar prices at $580-600/mt ex-works today. Sources report additional $5-10/mt discounts are applicable for serious buyers only.
In the Iskenderun region, one local mill is offering rebar today at TRY 19,350/mt ($588/mt) ex-works, while another mill in this region is offering rebar at TRY 19,800/mt ($602/mt) ex-works today. In addition, a few re-rollers in this region are offering rebar at TRY 19,500-19,600/mt ($593-596/mt) ex-warehouse.
Some local buyers are in wait-and-see mode and are observing the import scrap price trend as most of them are struggling with loan repayment issues.
