As of today, February 17, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 100/mt in the Iskenderun and Marmara regions against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations, while remaining stable in the local currency in the rest of the country, with minor changes on US dollar basis, compared to Thursday, February 13. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,900-24,500/mt or $550-563/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 36.24.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $560-580/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, while the workable rebar prices in these regions still vary at $550-565/mt ex-works, stable over the same period, for cash payment only.
Mills' official rebar prices in the Iskenderun region vary at TRY 24,300-24,500/mt ($559-563/mt) ex-works, while a few re-rollers in the region are offering rebar at TRY 24,000-24,200/mt ($552-556/mt) ex-warehouse.
Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode due to sluggish demand, adverse weather conditions and limited bank credit availability, at high interest rates.
