Most Turkish rebar producers have increased their rebar prices in the local currency in order to offset currency fluctuations.
Official rebar offers and workable prices from mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş, have remained flat both $605-620/mt ex-works and $600-615/mt ex-works, respectively, as compared to April 20. One Izmir-based mill has set its official rebar price at TRY 32,600/mt ($605/mt) ex-works today, April 22, indicating an increase of TRY 300/mt ($5/mt) over the same period.
An Iskenderun region-based mill kept its official rebar price at TRY 33,000/mt ($612/mt) ex-works today, unchanged on Turkish lira basis, only down by $1/mt over the same period. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills have been offering rebar today to serious buyers still at TRY 32,400-32,500/mt ($601-603/mt) ex-warehouse, the same amount of change of Iskenderun mill since April 20.
Turkish Central Bank has kept its interest rate stable at 37 per cent today.
Currently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market in Turkey are in the range of TRY 32,500-32,800/mt ($603-608/mt) ex-warehouse, rising by TRY 100/mt ($1-2/mt) compared to April 20.
