Today, October 19, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, as compared to Monday, October 16. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 18,600-19,000/mt or $554-565/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 28.00.

Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price at $570/mt ex-works today. Most Izmir and Marmara-based mills are offering official rebar prices at $555-570/mt ex-works, falling by $10/mt on the higher end over the same period. Sources report additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers.

One Iskenderun-based mill is offering its official rebar price at TRY 19,200/mt ($571/mt) ex-works, while the workable price is at around TRY 19,000/mt ($565/mt) ex-works, SteelOrbis has heard.

Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode regarding new purchases amid the current unclear market conditions. In addition, a few end-users are considering going public in order to generate increased capital given the current high interest rates for loan repayments.

As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
