Today, October 5, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mainly fallen by TRY 100-200/mt ($5-9/mt) amid ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand, as compared to Monday, October 2, while prices have remained unchanged in the local currency, down by only $3/mt in the Iskenderun region. Although traders are attempting to increase their rebar spot prices, most local buyers are facing financial restrictions and are not restocking material due to their loan repayments. In addition, the adverse weather conditions in Anatolia are also challenging for the construction sector. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 19,000-19,500/mt or $575-590/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 27.56.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price stable at $590/mt ex-works today. Most Izmir and Marmara-based mills are still offering official rebar prices at $580-600/mt ex-works.
In the Iskenderun region, one mill is offering rebar today at TRY 19,500/mt ($590/mt) ex-works. Moreover, a few re-rollers in this region are offering rebar at TRY 19,700-19,800/mt ($596-599/mt) ex-warehouse, rising by TRY 200/mt($3/mt) over the same period.
