Today, January 9, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mainly increased by TRY 50-100/mt compared to Friday, January 6, amid currrency fluctuations and the positive sentiment in the local scrap segment, while only in the Izmir region have prices fallen by TRY 50/mt over the same period due to the aggressive pricing policy in the region. All rebar spot prices indicate small changes on US dollar basis. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 15,950-16,100/mt or $720-727/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions are standing at $720-730/mt ex-works, including the prices of Icdas A.S. Most buyers are delaying new purchases and believe that rebar prices may soften due to the lack of trading activity.
In the Iskenderun region, Koc Metallurgy opened and closed it rebar sales at TRY 16,200/mt ex-works on Friday, January 6. In addition, another mill in the region has also opened its rebar price at TRY 16,200/mt ex-works, equal to $731/mt ex-works at the current exchange rate.
