Most Turkish rebar producers are attempting to increase their rebar prices against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and higher import scrap prices. Most buyers are in wait-and-see mode until the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due on April 22.
Official rebar offers and workable prices from mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş, have risen by $10/mt to $605-620/mt ex-works and by $5-10/mt to $600-615/mt, respectively, as compared to April 16. One Izmir-based mill has set its official rebar price at TRY 32,300/mt ($600/mt) ex-works today, April 20, indicating an increase of TRY 600/mt ($10/mt) over the same period.
An Iskenderun region-based mill issued its official rebar price at TRY 33,000/mt ($613/mt) ex-works today, indicating an increase of TRY 750/mt ($13/mt). Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills have been offering rebar today to serious buyers at TRY 32,400-32,500/mt ($602-604/mt) ex-warehouse, up by TRY 700-900/mt ($12/mt) since April 16.
Currently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market in Turkey are in the range of TRY 32,400-32,700/mt ($602-607/mt) ex-warehouse, rising by TRY 700/mt ($11-12/mt), compared to April 16.
