As of today, June 23, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by only TRY 100/mt in the Iskenderun and Marmara regions, against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand, compared to Thursday, June 19. In addition, rebar spot prices have remained stable in the local currency in the rest of the country. All rebar spot prices indicate minor changes on US dollar basis. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,300-26,000/mt or $531-545/mt, ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 39.72.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $540-560/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, stable as compared to June 19, while the workable rebar prices in these regions also vary, at $530-555/mt ex-works, down by $5/mt on the lower end over the same period, for cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official rebar price today at TRY 26,750/mt ($561/mt) ex-works. Sources report a few re-rollers in this region are offering rebar at around TRY 25,600-25,700/mt ($537-539/mt) ex-warehouse, for serious buyers.
The general sentiment on the demand side is negative amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and the unrest in the Middle East.
